To celebrate World Swap Day, the Environment Action Association (EAA) and Five Boroughs Clothing Swap (FBCS) held their first collaborative swap event called “Bring Your Own Clothing (BYOC)” at St. Margaret’s House on January 21, 2012.
In spite of severe snowstorm, approximately 60 eager swappers attended event with full of new and used items from home. Volunteers from Five Borough Clothing Swap carefully sorted the swappable clothes, shoes, scarves and re-gifted items.
The participants also enjoyed playing “Wheel of Recycling” and winning sustainable, fabulous, re-purposed accessories made from recyclable materials. This side event, prepared by EAA, captured the attention of many participants.
We are glad to spread the swapping movement globally by being a part of World Swap Day. EAA will continue to promote reusing, reducing, and recycling programs to the public in order to raise sustainable living awareness.
