Another great day at “City of Water Day”

EAA joined a line of environmental organizations and associations waiting for ferry to go Governors Island on July 14thin order to celebrate City of Water Day.
This was the 2nd time for EAA to be a part of the event
and 5th year for City of Water Day to share its enthusiasm towards water with New Yorkers and tourists as well.
Every year, the Metropolitan Water Alliance hosts City of Water Day from Jersey City’s Liberty to Governors Island.Hundreds of people came to Governors Island by a free ferry between two park areas which ran every half-hour during the festival.
For educational purpose for people, EAA presented water cycle poster. Along with the water cycle poster, we brought beads and strings for kids to make bracelets that are imbued with the idea of water cycle. We also 7 different color beads to share the idea that water cycle is made up with different parts of nature: brown for ground water, green for plants, clear for the air, white for clouds, yellow for the sun, black for pollution, and sky blue for rain. In order to educate children, thorough explanation about the water cycle was given to the children before they start making their own bracelets.
Besides the bracelets, we had 3 other posters to show the daily water usage in both indoor and outdoor situations. Our volunteer, Henry, did a fantastic job explaining and conveying the information that we gathered from EPA (Environment Protection Agency), the State of Oregon, and the State of Ohio on how to save water in both situations.
Just like last year, EAA was very satisfied that we taught values of water to many children and adults. We are happy that we took a part of this educational and fun event!! Therefore, we are planning to be a part of it again next year as well !
